As of March 25, 2025, IRCC removed job offer points (previously 50 or 200) from the CRS for all candidates. If your CRS score feels lower than expected, this is often why. The most reliable levers left are a PNP nomination (+600), higher language scores, more Canadian work experience, and French language ability.

The CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score ranks candidates in Express Entry out of 1,200 points. In 2026, general draw cutoffs have typically ranged from 480-520, though a PNP nomination alone adds 600 bonus points and can push scores much higher.
Core human capital factors (age, education, language, Canadian work experience) — up to 500 points without a spouse or 460 with one. Spouse factors — up to 40 points. Skill transferability rewards combining strengths — education or foreign work experience paired with strong language ability or Canadian work experience. Up to 50 points come from education combinations and up to 50 from foreign work experience combinations, for a combined maximum of 100 points.
Having a spouse or common-law partner lowers your own maximum core points (500 to 460) but opens up to 40 additional points from your spouse's education, language, and Canadian work experience. Whether it helps or hurts depends on your spouse's profile — our calculator accounts for both sides.
