In-Canada Spousal Sponsorship
This pathway has largely continued under existing policy. Sponsored spouses applying with an Acknowledgement of Receipt generally remain able to obtain an open work permit while their PR application is processed .

Spouses of Foreign Workers
Since January 2025, eligibility has been restricted to spouses of workers in TEER 0 or 1 occupations, or select TEER 2/3 occupations. Spouses of TEER 4/5 workers generally no longer qualify.
